Fanning previously was Chief Financial Officer of Southern Company, where he was responsible for the accounting, finance, tax, investor relations, treasury and risk management functions. As Chairman of both the Electricity Subsector Coordinating Council and Strategic Infrastructure Coordinating Council, Mr. Fanning plays a leading role in national efforts to prevent and respond to cyber and physical terrorism for the U.S. electric system. He has an undergraduate and master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has completed several executive education programs. As CEO of a large public utility, Mr. Fanning provides our Board with valuable business, leadership and management skills. His prior service as CFO of Southern Company and Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta makes him well qualified to serve on our Audit Committee
