Mr. Barry S. Sternlicht is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer of the Company, He was the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Starwood Capital Group, a privatelyheld global investment firm with approximately 56 billion in assets under management and an affiliate of the Company, since its formation in 1991. He is also the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Starwood Capital Group Management, L.L.C., a registered investment advisor and an affiliate of the Company. Over the past 27 years, Mr. Sternlicht has structured investment transactions with an aggregate asset value of approximately 94 billion. From 1995 to 2005, he was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Starwood Hotels Resorts Worldwide, Inc., an NYSElisted hotel and leisure company that he founded. Mr. Sternlicht is the former Chairman of the Board of TRI Pointe Group and the current Chairman of the Board of Baccarat S.A., a crystal maker. In 2008, Mr. Sternlicht founded and became the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SH Group, a hotel management company that owns and manages the Baccarat Hotels Resorts and 1 Hotels brands since 2009.
