He holds bachelor and master degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a juris doctor degree from The University of Chicago Law School. since 2005.

Elected by the shareholders, the Morningstar's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Morningstar inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Morningstar.
