Mr. Kevin P. Chavous serves as President, Academics, Policy Schools Group. of the e was a member of our Board of Directors from January 2017 to October 2017 before resigning to take his current position. Previously, he was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Chavous Group, an educational consulting firm, a position he held from January 2012 until January 2018 and was a founding Board Member of the American Federation for Children . He served as AFC Executive Counsel from 2012 to 2016. Previously, Mr. Chavous was a partner at the SNR Denton law firm from 2002 to 2012 and served as a member of the Council of the District of Columbia from 1993 to 2005, where he was Chair of the Council Education Committee. He also has served on the board of various charter schools across the country including the Friendship Charter Schools in Washington, D.C since 2017.
